Yep, two-thirds of Brushbackpitch.com is heading out on the road.

As part of a trip designed around attending the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame (see Zoneblitz.com) induction ceremony, Tony and I will be making a week-long trek around upper and middle America that will include three baseball games, at least one stadium tour, and a couple of baseball-related museum tours.

We’ll be taking off the Wednesday before the Hall of Fame enshrinement, taking our time driving through Milwaukee, Chicago and Indiana, arriving in Ohio sometime on Thursday afternoon.

The plan is to catch the Toledo Mud Hens v Gwinnett Braves game at what is billed as the best minor league park in America, according to Newsweek – or at least was in 2002.

From there we’ll head to Cleveland. If we have a chance we might take another tour of Jacobs Field, err, whatever they call it now. But we did that a couple years ago – beautiful park. This year we’re shooting for a tour of Cleveland Browns Stadium nearby and might try to find what’s left of old League Park, which was in play from 1891 to 1946.

Saturday is the HOF induction. Then we head to Pittsburgh, where we have tickets for the Sunday afternoon tilt between the Pirates and the Cardinals. While Pittsburgh has struggled for the last couple decades on the field, word is the ballpark itself is one of the best in the Major Leagues.

After the game, we’ll make a leisurely drive into Kentucky, where the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory awaits. Then we’ve got tickets for the Monday St. Louis Cardinals v Cincinnati Reds game at the new Busch Stadium.

Finally, the trip concludes on our jaunt toward home with a final stop at the Field of Dreams Museum in Dyersville, Iowa.

During the trip we’ll be taking some time to brainstorm and master plan how we can improve Brushbackpitch.com. If you’ve got any thoughts on improving the blog or advice on some sites we should check out along our road trip route, please drop us a note in the comments section.

Thanks.
